Sometimes, fooling people is not for the fun of it. Sometimes, fooling others is an act of insecurities by an individual. They wear a mask outside to shield their emotions. Cold face, smiling face; all of those are just shield to hide a person's true feelings.
I guess that is also what people call hypocrisy? Wearing a mask, an individual hide their true feelings, in other words, pretend to have feelings that one does not actually have. That's also Chinen Yuuri. Me. Chinen Yuuri, a hypocrite. Everyday, I wear a smiling mask outside; at school, at work, even at home. No one really knows what I am truly feeling. Everyone just thought, I'm Chinen Yuuri, the cute chibi-teen that always smile and doesn't have any worries for the world.
That's a lie.
Tears welled up in my eyes as I walked faster down the street.
FLASHBACK
I skipped into JUMP's dressing room. I heard a familiar cry coming from the back of the room. "Keito?"
Keito was startled upon hearing my voice. He quickly wiped away the tears from his face. "Chinen?"
"Why are you crying?" I asked, squatting in front of Keito so that we're the same level.
"C-Crying? I'm not crying. What made you say that?" Keito tried to laugh it off.
"You were crying, I heard you, Keito-chan," I said. "Is this about Hikaru again?" I asked worriedly.
Keito frantically shook his head, trying to deny it. I knew it was true though. Lately, Hikaru's been spending more time with Inoo than usual.
Keito stood up. "Stop thinking about it, okay? And forget this ever happens. Worrying doesn't suit your character."
I sat there as Keito left. "You're wrong, Keito-chan."
END OF FLASHBACK
I'm not just all smiles and laugh. I, too, knows the meaning of hurt. For some reason, my legs brought me to the konbini. I saw two familiar faces in the konbini; they are my friends. One of them made me have butterflies, one of them made me angry, yet I could never stay angry at him. But then, seeing them together, seeing them so close to one another made my heart clench, made my tars fall. People never seems to notice this thought.
People are wrong if they thought Chinen Yuuri is all smiles and laugh, a cheery chibi-teen. Chinen Yuuri, too, can break.
Masking their feelings, individuals did that to protect themselves. Protect their heart. Protect it. Protect it from crumbling. Protect it from breaking apart.
